“Here at WXYC, we are lucky to explore music across all genres and voices. Black artists time and time again have used their voice to call for justice against police brutality, racist institutions that hold power in this country, and accountability for white leaders who turn their heads to the pleads and demands of black people. For me, playing black artists on the airwaves allows me to share their truth for our audience to listen. To listen to black voices and to try and grasp where their anguish, rage, and power comes from. Here at WXYC, my management team and I stand with black lives. We stand for nationwide justice and reform. We support black voices. And we mourn the murders of black bodies including George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery--only a few from a long list of those who died in the hands of white police or vigilantes. Take direct action and listen.”
